I follow the Junction application with an application of iron one or two days later. The copper displaces the iron in the grass and will cause yellowing. We have pretty widespread moss problems so we treat all of the greens. For your situation it may make more sense to spot treat the moss with a backpack sprayer. This operation should be approached with caution, copper is not mobile in the soil and can reach toxic levels quickly. We do a lot of topdressing so every two to three years I have to go out after the moss to build the copper level back up to keep the moss out. If you want I can come look at your place give you my opinion I always approach any greens application with the utmost caution many a green was killed by someone attempting to make it better. It is a mixture of Mancozeb fungicide(manganese, zinc ion and ethylenebisdithiocarbamete) and copper hydroxide. Field tests over the last three years on bentgrass putting greens in Pennsylvania have shown high success rates with both curative and preventive strategies. There really is a whole bunch of literature that I've collected to go over with you, stuff that I know you will want to review when your schedule allows but, here is the short of it: Curative Program: 1. Begin in Fall Months after temperatures no longer exceed 70 degrees (Spring for us). 2. Apply appropriate rate weekly for a total of 7 weeks. Preventative Program: 1. Use as a preventative as long as conditions exist which favor moss (always for us). 2. Apply appropriate rate every two weeks during the growing season (18 apps for us). Thing we need to be aware of: A. Curative rates are high and must be applied only during cool weather! B. Tip burn and turf yellowing will occur with curative rates. Turf should recover within 4 weeks. C. Preventative rates will also yellow turf during hot weather. D. Yellowing may be minimized with extra iron applications - cost unknown but should not be significant. E. Costs of both programs are conditional on tank mix compatibility with products currently used. If not compatible, costs will at least double. Testing can be done once greens begin growing. I will also ask for your assistance with determining if the material mixes are within the proper ph range. We can do this at your convenience there at your shop.
