Joerg,
Please try to get in to the
webpage http://puttgarden.com/moly/index.html
and let me know how you made out. Your username is your first name,
you password is your last name.
I have compiled an e-mail group
named "Moly Glaze Group" and will direct all my e-mail replies to
members to this group so everyone gets the information. I would appreciate if
you would do the same in the future. The members of this group are:
Phil
Hamling pdah@optonline.net
Gordon
Czop gczop@hvc.rr.com
Jon
Dunlavy j_dunlavy@yahoo.com
Ulrike
Franck ulrike.franck@email.de
Joerg
Baumoeller jbaumoeller@terra.es
John
Tilton john@tiltonpottery.com
I may invite jhp from the
Crystalline Glaze Forum to join as he seems to have something to offer, but
will probably limit the group to those listed.
My summary of input from various
members, to date, includes:
Gordon and I have
interacted to the point you can see on the page.
Jon: I have played "20
questions with him, have gleaned a little info but no "Information
of Substance" (see below). I hope this (these) e-mails will convince him to
contribute.
Ulrike: I have had some dialogue
with her, but have gleaned a little info but no "Information of
Substance" (see below).
Joerg: I just invited him, he
replied in the affirmative, sent some pictures but I have not had a chance to
go through it and post them. I
do not know if there is "Information of Substance" (see below).
John Tilton: : I have had
some dialogue with him, but have gleaned a little info but no
"Information of Substance" (see below). He did supply just
supply another technical paper written in Japanese )I think). I will contact
Yoshiko to see if she can read it.
By "Information of
Substance" I mean theories in general, delineations of the glazes and
ingredients mixed, how they were applied to what body, how they were fired,
what the results were and thoughts regarding future trials. This all works
towards the goal of fostering a cooperative effort where everyone can
benefit as quickly as possible.
If you would like to opt out of
the group at anytime please let me know and I will remove you from the list.
This could be due to any reason including but not limited to: You just don't
want to be involved, you don't care to contribute and share your attempts
and findings o0r any other reason. If I feel you are not contributing I may
remove you from the group.
I hope this information is
helpful.
Phil Hamling
PS
I am not certain Powellite is
absolutely required. I think Ulrike and Jon will have something to say about
that and look forward to their input.
I don't feel firing to ^10
"temperatures" is necessarily required as Powellite and molybdenum
oxide volatilize at a much lower temperature.

Dear Phil!
Thanks for the invitation!
Yes, I'd like to join the club...kindly send me a user name and password...
so far, I have tried the
Sanders formulae (S4 and S7 gave some "idea"..) and some 10 proposal
from Ulrike (3,4 and 6... had some crystals, but very, very few...), not really,
what we are looking for...if anybody wants the formulae or FS's... with
pleasure I'll send them, then again, we all are looking for something
considerably better!
And Gordon seems miles ahead
already!
As I don't have Powellite and
Frit 3134, but (black) moly powder only, my idea for my
next step now is, to strictly reproduce Rita's approach... and fire the CFM
formula in FS' 3, 4 and 7... for which I still have to get some Gerstley
Borate, again, not available in Spain...(Jesus, we are pretty close to Africa
here....)
In 2 weeks time I'll travel
to Germany, by car , and fetch Gerstley Borate and some (mat) Frit 4067 for the
"congress"...(what we have, we have...)
so, my next results, which
I`ll gladly communicate.... will not be available before the second half of
June...
are you sure, it's necessary
to fire that high? (1300°C...)
best regards!
Joerg
